Spotlight on Ashley Fields, Office Associate
What do you do in the EED?
I’ve been here since September 2016 working as the Office Associate. I support the Assoc Chair and the faaculty and staff with things such as travel, ordering textbooks, scheduling TAs, sand other admin tasks as needed. I am also involved with planning the annual AEV showcase, Capstone Design showcase, the robotics competition
Favorite thing about working in the EED?
The people. Everyone is very personable and fun to get to know. It’s nice to have so many different personalities in one place. I also admire everyone’s dedication to their work and their students. One of the things that make this dept stand out to me is that, for everyone in this department, the students come first.
The last 2 jobs I had at OSU were on the operations side of things, but learning the academic side of things has been very enlightening. As a student you just go to class and learn but you never take into account what’s going on behind the scenes. Students don’t always know everything that goes into what makes a department click. It’s very interesting to me to get to see the ins and outs of how an academic department works.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I love to research ecosystems and wildlife. My favorite animals include wolves and great-horned owls.
