Dr. Michael Parke

It is with deep heartache that the Department of Engineering Education announces the loss of beloved Sr. Lecturer, Dr. Michael (Mike) Parke.

Mike had a robust career both within industry and academia. He received his doctorate in Physical Oceanography from the University of California San Diego; worked in research at the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), and later taught at the University of Colorado and The Ohio State University where he spent the last 24 years.

Dr. Parke’s sincere care for his students and the department will be missed. Dr. Abrams, Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies, remembers Dr. Parke.  “Mike’s commitment to the College of Engineering and its students was so obvious.  He was willing to teach any class at any time.  He worked hard to connect with his students and his Undergraduate Teaching Assistants through innovative teaching strategies, light hearted jokes, and his never-ending smile.  We will definitely miss his passion and commitment to students and his love for coffee.”

Dr. Parke’s family is accepting flowers at this time. The opportunity to plant a tree in his memory is also available.

Our hearts go out to Dr. Parke’s family.
