Posted:

It is with our deepest gratitude and honor to announce the retirement of Dr. Rick Freuler from The Ohio State University and,

subsequently, the Department of Engineering Education in May of 2021. Serving the University in various roles for 50 years has truly made an impact on our community. Touching the lives of countless students and colleagues, shaping the minds of a generation of engineers.

Departing from his position as the Director of the Fundamentals of Engineering Honors (FEH) program, an area he has fondly been affiliated with for 22 years, will perhaps feel his absence the most. In his retirement announcement to the department Freuler says, “Both my academic and personal life experiences and memories have been made so much richer because of the FEH family members that have thrown their lives in together with mine in this grand adventure called FEH”.

Dr. Freuler looks forward to spending more time with family. As a life-long educator, he hopes to have the honor of joining his FEH family once again to teach a section and continue to provide support and wisdom from his experiences in that area. We wish Dr. Rick and his family all the best as he enters retirement.
