What do you do in the EED?

I teach Engineering 2367 (a second-level writing course focused on professional and technical communication) and currently serve as the Course Coordinator for Engineering Technical Communications. My service to the department also includes serving on the Undergraduate Studies and Learning Infrastructure Committee and working this summer with the KEEN team.

What drew you to the Department of Engineering Education at Ohio State?

I have always been interested in writing across the curriculum and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help future engineers become better communicators. Also, go Bucks!

What is your favorite thing about working in the EED?

I really enjoy the people I get to work and interact with every day, but my favorite part will always be the students. I tell my students, “It doesn’t matter how smart you are if you can’t communicate that intelligence to the right people in the right way.” Helping students develop and sharpen their abilities to be effective communicators—it doesn’t get old!

What did you do before coming to the EED?

Before coming to OSU six years ago, I was in graduate school at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Before that, I worked in the legal field in various positions (legal assistant/paralegal, receptionist, legal secretary, etc). My work in the legal field was one way I supported my education habit.
