Toy Adaptation Program takes workshop to Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Posted:

Students, faculty and staff in EED’s Toy Adaptation Program (TAP) took their show on the road recently, setting up a workshop inside Nationwide Children’s Hospital. They worked hands-on with children with disabilities and their parents so the children could play with toys they would not ordinarily be able to operate. The event drew the attention of local TV news coverage, including ABC6onyourside.

TAP combines engineering education with community outreach by teaching engineering students how to adapt toys for families with children with disabilities. The program provides students with real-world engineering experience and also teaches them to use their skills for the benefit of the community. Currently, their work is supported by an Impact Grant from the Office of Outreach and Engagement.
