Plan to Attend the Advanced Energy Vehicle Showcase & Competition
Each year, undergraduate engineering students in the Fundamentals of Engineering class, ENGR 1182, respond to a scenario by building an Adanced Energy Vehicle (AEV).
The university community and public are welcome to attend this year's Showcase in the Physics Research Building lobby from 10-5 with awards ceremony starting at 4:30.
Approximately 50 teams, consisting of four first-year engineering students per team, will compete for awards in the annual Advanced Energy Vehicle (AEV) Competition on Monday April 18, 2016.
Advanced Energy Vehicles are autonomous robot transporters programmed by student teams to accomplish a transportation task while minimizing energy consumption and optimizing performance tasks.
The student teams were chosen by their instructors in ENGR 1182 – Introduction to Engineering II – as outstanding teams to represent their classes in the annual AEV Showcase.
The AEV project includes a poster and/or video presentation by student teams, as well as a live competition to determine which AEV project is the best in the following categories (winners are picked for each category):
- outstanding documentation
- engineering design
- engineering creativity
- best AEV video
- best performing in head-to-head competition
Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with student teams and Department of Engineering Education staff.
The AEV Showcase is open to the OSU community and the public. Enjoy engineering designs, advanced energy vehicles, and fun at this first-year engineering competition!
