Toy Adaptation Program Combines Engineering, Education, and Community

Posted:

The Toy Adaptation Program (TAP) at the Ohio State University combines engineering education with community outreach by teaching first and second year engineering students how to adapt toys to be donated to families with children with disabilities.

TAP combines engineering, education, and community. It gives engineering students hands-on reverse engineering experience that helps solidify and further engage them in the field of engineering. This program also seeks to expose students to humanitarian engineering by teaching them to use their engineering skills for the benefit of the community.

At CodeMash 2016, Microsoft Corporation collaborated with TAP to offer a special workshop for attendees to rebuild toys for children with disabilities.
