Course content

This course is designed for teachers of student with visual impairments (TVIs). The first half of this course is designed to provide in-depth content knowledge aligned with Ohio’s New Learning Standards-Science. The fundamentals of the engineering design process will then be studied and used to provide opportunities for application in teaching biology content. Teacher participants will gain knowledge and experience in designing and teaching problem based learning (PBL) modules that incorporate the Engineering Design Process (EDP) with life science and biology content (engineering overlaid onto life science and biology or bio-engineering).  The second half of the course will be dedicated to methods to make modifications and accommodations for students with visual impairments (VI) to pre-existing science, math, and engineering lesson plans including how to teach PBL modules to students with VI.
